Montello (born 1959) is an American psychologist and Professor at Department of Geography of the University of California Santa Barbara, and at its Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences, known for his work on geovisualization and cognitive geography.〔Frank, Andrew U. Intelligence 30.5 (2002): 425-447.〕 == Biography == Montello obtained his BA in Psychology at the Johns Hopkins University in 1981, and in 1986 his MA in Psychology at the Arizona State University, where in 1991 he also obtained his PhD in Psychology with a thesis in the area of environmental psychology.〔(Daniel R. In 1992 he moved to the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he started as Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography. In 1996 he was appointed Associate Professor and since 2002 he is Professor. Since 1995 he is also affiliated with the Universities Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences, and since 2006 with the SAGE Center for the Study of the Mind at the university.〔 Montello is elected member of the Association of American Geographers, the Psychonomics Society, and the Sigma Xi Scientific Honor Society.〔
